Hey, hey now !
I am Joakina, the host of the Black Lady Adulting Podcast. I am a quirky natural hair enthusiast, fervent follower of Tracee Ellis Ross and Solange, and I love the art of storytelling and chocolate (in no particular order). The Black Lady Adulting Podcast is space that honors and centers Black women’s stories and experiences.
I am a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and god-mom. For my day job, I use knowledge of student development theory, organizational leadership and relevant pop culture, to create transformative experiences for students of color in higher education. In 2008, I graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor’s in Speech Communication and a minor in Ethnic Studies. I am currently pursuing a doctorate in the College of Education at University of Maryland while working fulltime. Lord, help me.
